Capitalism & Morality |

“This idea that the government has services or goods that they can pass on is a complete farce. Governments have nothing. They can't create anything, they never have. All they can do is steal from one group and give it to another at the destruction of the principles of freedom.” |
|
“To the masses, the catchwords of Socialism sound so enticing… so they will continue to work for Socialism, helping thereby to bring about the inevitable decline of the civilization which the nations of the West have taken thousands of years to build up.” -Ludwig von Mises |

A link to the video recording of the Seminar held on 30 July 2011 will posted here soon. Please join us in a Seminar to discuss the vital importance of social and economic liberty. Four internationally renowned speakers will demonstrate that laissez faire capitalism is the only ethical system, and alone can bring about economic recovery and ensure prosperity. Rather than the free marketplace, it is the gigantic size and horrendous growth of big government that is the problem. Program (Saturday, 30 July 2011): · 8:00 to 8:25am: Registration and coffee · 8:25 to 8:30am: Introduction by Jayant Bhandari · 8:30 to 10am: “Taming the Violence of Faith” by Jay Stuart Snelson. Famously known for his V-50 lectures, he has changed lives by providing tools for clear thinking through his exposition of morality of mutually voluntary exchange for win-win gain in every arena of social life. · 10:00 to 10:30am: Coffee · 10:30 to 10:45am: A tribute to the much loved and adored John A. Pugsley by Bonnie Rule and Nancy Rhyme. · 10:45 to 12:15pm: “A cost/benefit analysis of the Human Spirit” by Butler Shaffer. Mr Shaffer, an astute observer of the human nature, talks about the ever-continuing demeaning of the human spirit under the expansion of institutional power. Author of several books—Boundaries of Order, Calculated Chaos, In Restraint of Trade, etc.—Mr Shaffer teaches law at Southwestern Law School. · 12:15 to 1:00pm: Lunch · 1:00 to 2:30pm: “The real enemy is between your two ears” by Rick Rule. Mr Rule, one of the most successful investors anywhere, is a living example of how a principle-based value-system—rooted in liberty, free-market, and respect for the individual—forms the solid basis for deciphering the complex, ever-changing world and what today’s welfare-warfare state means for the future. Mr Rule shows how his value-system is the only way to create an abundance mentality, with its inevitable consequences on the wealth and well-being of the individual. · 2:30 to 3:00pm: Coffee · 3:00 to 4:30pm: “Is this the end of the Western Civilization?” by Doug Casey. Mr Casey is one of the most sought after speakers. He has written two New York Times bestsellers, including “Crisis Investing,” which was #1 for 19 weeks. He frequently contributes to LewRockwell.com and Liberty. Mr Casey, a fervent anarcho-capitalist, believes that having given up capitalism, which made the West so prosperous, America and western Europe have taken a path to inevitable decline. Would the children of today’s Europeans end up as servants and maids of the Chinese? Never to pull his punches, Mr Casey says that “America” was not about a country but an idea. · 4:30 to 5:00pm: Panel discussion Date: Saturday, 30 July 2011 Venue: Host: |
“Contrary to the vulgar belief that men are motivated primarily by materialistic considerations, we now see the capitalist system being discredited and destroyed all over the world, even though this system has given men the greatest material comforts”
-Ayn Rand |

“It is no crime to be ignorant of economics, which is, after all, a specialized discipline and one that most people consider to be a 'dismal science.' But it is totally irresponsible to have a loud and vociferous opinion on economic subjects while remaining in this state of ignorance." |
|
"...if we wish to preserve a free society, it is essential that we recognize that the desirability of a particular object is not sufficient justification for the use of coercion." |
|
"The free market punishes irresponsibility. Government rewards it." “Morally acting man seeks profit; immorally acting man seeks plunder.” -Jay S. Snelson
